Maria Salmon

Maria Salmon is a dedicated string teacher who has spent her career developing strings programs and music students in many schools and countries in which she has lived. Maria relocated to the Sunshine Coast with her family in 2011 and as Musical Director and Conductor is immensely excited to lead the Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra. In 2016, Maria was awarded the Sunshine Coast Council’s Australia Day Cultural Award for her work with SCYO and the community.

Clare Deady

Conductor, Concert Band

Clare Deady

Clare is an Instrumental Music Teacher with Ed Qld since 2001. She has previously been a conductor with SCYO from 2000-2008, working with both the Wind Ensemble and Concert Orchestra. Clare spent 5 yrs conducting in the UK, and is a passionate advocate for music education and community music at both the youth and adult levels and maintains an active involvement in community music ensembles, as both a performer and conductor.

Tetias Goh

Tetias Goh

Having studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, former leader and founding member of the SCYO Chamber Strings, Tetias enjoys a diverse career balancing both performing and teaching. Currently devoting a majority of his time to instrumental teaching, Tetias tutors violin/viola at Siena Catholic Primary/Secondary, Stella Maris and St Andrews, as well as having ongoing work engagements within QLD and overseas.

Chelsey Eunson

Chelsey Eunson has worked as a private Instrumental Music Teacher for the past 15 years teaching Piano, Clarinet, Saxophone and Theory at St Andrew’s Anglican College, Matthew Flinders Anglican College and Immanuel Lutheran College. In 2017 Chelsey was appointed the Acting Director of Co-curricular Music at St. Andrew’s Anglican College. Chelsey is passionate about developing young musical talent and music opportunities on the Sunshine Coast.

Jo Ramsay, Conductor

Jo Ramsey

Jo Ramsey grew up in North Queensland amidst a thriving music community, worked as a Strings Instructor at Stella Maris College in Geraldton, WA then later for several schools in Brisbane for Education Queensland. Jo currently teaches at Sunshine Coast Grammar School as violin tutor, conducting and developing the String Ensemble program. Jo is passionate about her work with SCYO developing young musicians and is rewarded by watching them grow musically.

Dan Salmon

Dan Salmon

Dan was a member of the SCYO from 2012 – 2017, including 3 years as percussion section leader. In 2015 he jazz workshopped with the New York Jazz Symposium. Dan graduated from MFAC where he performed in the school’s award winning bands. In 2018 he began studies in Jazz Drums at the Queensland Conservatorium. Daniel brings his love of jazz, warm sense of humour and an ability to relate to our young Stage Band members.

Jodie Lutherborrow

Jodie Lutherborrow has worked as a multi-instrumental music teacher with Education Queensland since 1989. Jodie is kept extremely busy currently teaching and conducting primary and high school concert bands, wind symphonies, stage bands and orchestras, freelancing and lecturing at the Queensland University of Technology. Jodie has been the recipient of several scholarships and awards and her conducting engagements have enabled her to travel and work internationally.

Isabel McCafferty

Isabel recently successfully completed her B.Mus (Viola) at the Queensland Conservatorium, teaches strings at Stella Maris Primary School and, as a Resident Assistant, mentors new music students at UQ. Izzy was a founding member of the SCYO Chamber Strings ensemble and now works closely with our senior conductors developing her conducting skills whilst educating and mentoring our younger string players.
