Workshops with Neridah Oostenbroek

We are very excited to have well-known Queensland composer, teacher and performer Neridah Oostenbroek to come up to the Sunshine Coast and conduct workshops for us as well as a few other schools over the span of two weeks. She will be visiting us during our normal rehearsals, followed by an afternoon workshop with all the schools that have participated. It’s going to be great fun!

Dress for performance – Formal black:

Boys: black long sleeve button up shirt with collar, blue SCYO tie and pin, long black pants with black shoes and black socks. No white socks! Ties/pins will be provided to new members in term 1.

Girls: black shirt and skirt/long pants, or a black dress. If wearing a skirt/dress, please wear black stockings with black shoes – no bare legs or bare shoulders please. If wearing long black pants, please wear black socks. No white socks!

Who is Neridah?

Neridah has been teaching strings and classroom music in Brisbane for over 20 years. She learnt both violin and piano from a young age and went on to achieve her LMus A in both instruments. She graduated with a BMus (violin) and a Master of Philosophy in Violin Performance from University of Queensland under Sprios Rantos and also has a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education.

Neridah regularly performs as a freelance violinist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and also with the Qld Pops Orchestra. She regularly plays in chamber music groups in Brisbane, including her string quartet Vici Strings, and works as a piano accompanist playing for AMEB exams and for RAD ballet exams.

Neridah is passionate about music education. She is an active member of the Qld branch of the Australian String Association. She currently teaches violin and viola at several schools within Brisbane and also teaches at her private home studio.
